Carbon Sequestration & Pollution Futures Madison's commodities trading experiences in NYC have uniquely positioned her for insights into the sequestration and trading of this new global commodity: C02. Carbon Dioxide - the main component of Green House Gases (GHG's) is believed responsible for anthroprogenic (man-made) climate change & global warming. Currently in North America, the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) is the only exchange trading GHG's such as S02 & C02. The CCX is the parent company to the European Climate Exchanges. Michigan State University became a member of the CCX in November, 2006 Becoming one of the first university members to focus its vast research capacities toward reducing its Carbon Footprint. MSU would join the ranks of DuPont, American Electric Power, Amtrak, International Paper, Waste Managment & Dow Corning, among others. CO2 Profit Potential Individuals & groups who sequester C02 with trees or agriculturally, or who utilize sustainable energy sources (hydro, wind, solar, biofuels, methane recapture from dairy farms, etc.) are eligible to sell their metric tons of C02 sequestered for profit to the CCX.
